Emily Hodges Nurse Practitioner

Emily Hodges is a highly experienced Nurse Practitioner with advanced qualifications in mental health nursing and a clinical focus on postnatal depletion, perinatal mental health, and neuroprotective developmental care for infants. As a Medicare-accredited practitioner, Emily is able to prescribe medications and request pathology tests for eligible patients, offering an integrative approach to care under the convenience of one provider.

With more than a decade of experience in acute and emergency psychiatry, Emily has worked across hospital wards and community mental health teams in consultation liaison and crisis response roles. For the past four years, she has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner in emergency psychiatry, providing trauma-informed care through a compassionate biopsychosocial lens.

Emily now collaborates closely with Dr Oscar Serrallach to support mothers across Australia experiencing postnatal depletion, emotional exhaustion, and perinatal mood changes. She also leads our Postnatal Day Stay Program, a nurturing, in-house initiative that provides new mothers with a space to rest, be supported, and receive professional care during the often-overlooked fourth trimester.

Emily’s recent studies at the Royal Children’s Hospital have deepened her skills in infant-parent relationship support, drawing from developmental psychology, psychoanalytic theory, and psychiatry. Her work supports maternal wellbeing while laying a healthy foundation for infant emotional and neurological development.

Emily is also on track to become an accredited Possums practitioner, aligning with her passion for modern, holistic approaches to early parenting challenges including infant sleep, feeding, and regulation.

Outside the clinic, Emily is a joyful mother to a three-year-old daughter and a beloved poodle. She moonlights as a wedding celebrant, embraces Pilates and breathwork, and finds joy in travel, laughter, and deep connection with her community of women and family.
